It was a gorgeous day in Topeka a few weeks ago for Jane and James’ breathtaking backyard wedding. Jane and James live in DC, so we had only talked on the phone and when she described their wedding, I couldn’t wait to capture their wedding story!
The home where the wedding and reception took place has been in the family for 60 years. In fact, Jane and her sister, along with her cousin (who were dual maids of honor) all spent time growing up in this beautiful home that was filled with charm and rich history. Lining the upstairs hallway were pictures of past weddings (Jane and James’ was the 7th at the home), pictures of Jane with her siblings and cousins growing up and all five generations who have owned the home. I loved the focus on family and the sense that Jane and James were adding to its history.
Every detail, from the vintage looking china and gold flatware to the hand written butterfly name cards and stunning florals, lent itself to this upscale, yet intimate wedding. As the sun set and the string lights overhead cast their warm glow, it was apparent that Jane and James couldn’t have asked for a better day. Their love for life and laughing together spilled over to their friends and family, and that alone was worth celebrating.
Congrats again Jane & James! Thanks for letting me tell your story!
